Parking Lot Practice, Return to Monday Nights, Swap Your Swag and Kick Off to Riding Season
April is shaping up to be one BUSY month for IMRG 1963. Mark your calendars for these important dates.
Sunday April 3rd Noon-3:00 pm - Parking Lot Practice
Monday April 4th 7:00 pm – Chapter Meeting
Saturday April 9th 9:00 am–3:00 pm – Swap Your Swag
Saturday April 30th – Kickoff Breakfast and Ride
For starters, Mother Nature isn’t cooperating this year for our first-choice March date for our annual Parking Lot Practice so we’ve got our sights set on Sunday, April 3rd. Once again, Bair’s is allowing us the use of their parking lot for some slow speed exercises so we can shake off the rust together and be ready for riding season. We’ll have the cones set up from Noon – 3:00 pm so you can practice weaves, turns from a stop and the dreaded box (both 3-parking space width and 2-parking space width)… you know you have to turn the bike around eventually. Plus, we’ll have the slow speed lane to practice clutch control and an ever-tightening circle to reacquaint yourself with your bike’s lean angle. This is not a class, it’s an opportunity to practice skills as a group and amongst friends; no judgement, only friendly support. Ask anyone who attended last year and they’ll tell you it was truly a bonding experience. Come by anytime between noon and 3:00 and practice as long or as little as you’d like. One thing is guaranteed, we are all a little rusty with our bikes sitting all winter.
The very next day marks our return to our Monday night meetings. We meet the first Monday night of each month during riding season (barring holidays) at 7:00 pm for about an hour. For our first Monday night meeting of the season we have a special treat. Our Membership Director has taken the “Director” part of his title to heart and put together a video montage of our Goofy Bowling outing. To be honest, I’m a little scared, but knowing how much fun the outing was, I’m sure the video will have us falling out of our chairs.
Swap Your Swag is a little later this year, but better late than never. Starting at 9:00 am, bring in any motorcycle t-shirt to Bair’s and swap it for a new Indian Motorcycle t-shirt. All shirts swapped will be donated. While you’re there, swing by the IMRG 1963 table and, if you haven’t already, take an opportunity to reaffirm your membership by updating your contact information and signing the annual liability waiver. We’ll also have the video montage of last riding season playing on the big screen so if you missed any part of it at the Holiday Dinner (or if you missed the Holiday Dinner), here’s your chance to catch it again.
We’ll wrap up the month with our Kickoff Breakfast and Ride to be led by our president. Watch your email for more details.
