January CD&C Drafts 2023 Ride Calendar

By Kevin Irwin - Chapter #1963 Webmaster

On January 7th, a group of hungry chapter members gathered to discuss motorcycles, motorcycle trip destinations, and the age old debate if cream sticks are a donut or a pastry. While the age old debate was not resolved, the group did discuss an exciting ride calendar for 2023.

After the comradery, Tom Johnson kicked off the meeting by introducing the officers and reviewing a presentation on his vision for the 2023 ride calendar.

The group discussed and tentatively scheduled 24 rides. Members volunteered as Ride Leaders or Sweeps. A few highlights include over nighters (Ironton Armory, Laconia Bike Week in NH, and Windy 9). Maintaining traditional rides such as Tappan Lake, Calling All Scouts, Red, White, and Blue, and 9/11 rides. The group focused on alternating between Saturday and Sunday for ride dates.

The group also discussed a Memorial Day Ride in 2024 and conducting our own Iron Butt ride (1,000 miles in 24 hours) within the borders of Ohio in 2023.

The officers will draft and review the calendar of rides with the goal to present in February at the CD&C and post on the website in March. Stay tuned!

In other business:

  • Membership Director Maria Weisgarber reminded members to buy the new Chapter T-Shirt or make a donation that will be presented to a local animal shelter. Contact Maria if you have not seen the email. Click here —> I want to help

  • President Tom Johnson handed out mileage award certificates to those unable to attend the Christmas party.

  • Discussed a few social events in the works: Bowling in February and K1 Go Kart racing in March.

It was a productive meeting and it was great seeing all the new and returning members!

Next CD&C is Saturday, February 4th, at 9 AM @ Bair’s Indian Motorcycle.
