CD&C February Recap
On Saturday, February 4th, twenty-five members of the chapter battled the cold winter air with coffee, donuts, and comradery.
Members who had pre-ordered gear with new the chapter logo received their parcels and began modeling the apparel. The sales of the gear generated $700 of contributions that the chapter will make to a local pet rescue. Well done!
Chapter President Tom Johnson convened the group to discuss planned social events and this year’s ride calendar.
Winter socials:
Our first social is bowling on Saturday, February 11th. We are meeting at noon at Park Centre Lanes. We will have lunch immediately after bowling at Walther’s Twin Tavern on Apple Grove. Bring your valentine and we will see you at the lanes!
Our second social is go-kart racing on March 11th at K1 Speed on Port Jackson Ave NW. The cost for racing is $45 for two races and $65 for three races. You can bring and wear you own full faced helmet. There are a set number of slots, contact Tom Johnson if you are interested in racing!
Ride Calendar:
Laconia Bike Week was replaced with the Buckeye Butt Burner on June 10th. The Buckeye Butt Burner is similar to the Iron Butt Ride. It is a 1,000 mile ride that stays within the borders of Ohio and will be completed in less than 24 hours. Riders and their passengers are eligible for the Saddle Sore 1000 and Ride Around Ohio certificates. Additionally, the miles will be included in the year-end mileage recognition. The plan is to have 18-20 bikes, split into two groups for the ride. This is a members only event that will require preregistration. Stay tuned for details in March.
The Ironton Armory ride on May 27th will be an overnighter. The ride leader is targeting a Holiday Inn Express in the area. Details will be shred in March on where to call for accommodations.
A decision is still pending on whether the Windy 9 on August 26th will be an overnighter. The officers decided to get member’s feedback through an email survey. Stay tuned.
